CASe-ing this sketch with more snowflakes

I'm making the most of a couple of days free this week - NO MARKING!! HOORAY!!

I saw this sketch from CASe this sketch, and immediately decided to join in.  However, I had a heap of ideas in my head of how to tackle this sketch - many of which involved acetate, some of which involved lots of stamping and colouring - I took a while to settle on this idea, which involved neither acetate nor colouring.

I'm also going to share this card over at Hero Arts for their Holiday Challenge, in the White Out Category.

Stampin' up clear set!!

Stampin' Up has finally brought out clear stamps!  Hooray!  I finally got around to having a bit of a play with their new set, Flower Patch today.  I like that it's a layering set, and it's good that there are large images as well as small.
I used ColorBox Frost White pigment ink, along with three different Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Bubblegum, Butterbar and Cantaloupe).
I'll be sharing this card over at CAS on Sunday for their One Layer Wonder challenge.

Glittery snowflakes

I bought these snowflake dies from Simon Says Stamp last year, but my order was delayed, so I didn't get to use them nearly as much as I had planned to - I'm making up for lost time this year!
I used a pool coloured Hero Arts notecard for this card, but turned it inside out so the pale pool colour is inside the card. The smowflakes are cut from the mid shade of the HA pool coloured notecards. The pale strip on the bottom of the card looks grey in the photo, but it's actually white vellum.  Couldn't seem to photograph it just right.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts "Decorate your Holidays", which seems to be my go-to set for Christmas cards this year!
I'll be submitting this to Hero Arts' Holiday Challenge, in the "White Out" category.

Playing along with Hero Arts

A little wintery card for you today.
I made this card using products from Simon Says Stamp (two stencils with Wendy Vecchi embossing paste), Papertrey Ink (snowman stamp coloured with Copics), as well as a sentiment from Hero Arts.  (One of my favourite things about Hero Arts is all their sentiment stamps.  I love the phrases used, I love the fonts used, I love the variety of styles and sizes, everything about them is just fab!)
I'll be sharing this card over at the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge, in the "Anything Goes" category.

Addicted to CAS - Codeword: Vellum

I love using vellum, so I don't know why I don't use it more often than I do!  I went for a fun look with this card for Addicted to CAS:

Happy birthday, Jackie

I usually make a birthday card with a French theme for my good friend, Jackie.  This year, I thought I'd make it not so blatantly French - so I used La-La Land's Marci wearing her beret, but decided not to have her wearing red, white and blue ;)

 Happy birthday, Jackie (for yesterday)!

Happy birthday, Cecilia!

I made this card for Cecilia of Cecilia's Cards - I didn't blog about it here on her actual birthday, because she wouldn't have got the card in the mail by then! Happy birthday, Cecilia :)
I used my brand new "Swirly" stencil from Create a Smile - have you checked out this awesome little company yet, run by my friend, Christine Drogt?  I am in love with her stencils!

I'll be submitting this card to CAS on Sunday's latest challenge, Emboss it.

Hang in there!

A colleague of mine is due to give birth quite soon (read - she's going to pop ANY MINUTE!!)  She will be taking maternity leave from the end of this week, and I was asked to make a card for everyone at work to sign to wish her well (we also had a lunch in her honour today with lots of sweet goodies to share - yum!)

I thought the sentiment in Mama Elephant's set, Up and Away, was perfect for this card.

This week's Retro Sketches challenge is to choose any of their previous sketches - I followed this one from July 2013.

Getting a start on Christmas cards

Yes, I know, I had all good intentions to get some Christmas cards made throughout this year, but it just didn't happen.  However, starting in October is better than starting in December!  I took my stash of Christmas stamps and my inks, and went over to my sister's place to make some simple Christmas cards with her and my two eldest nieces.

On this first card, I used the gorgeous Stampin' Up stamp, "Dasher", but I went with a colour I would not normally use with Dasher!  I cut a hillside from some patterned paper (sorry, no idea where that paper is from), and added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, which I curved to match the paper.
(I think I need to add some glitter to Dasher's antlers.)
The next card uses the snowflakes from the Hero Arts set, "Decorate your Holidays", with a sentiment from Victoria's Secret (an Aussie stamp company), and some ribbon and gorgeous glittery embellishments from Stampin' Up.

This card was made by Caitlin (who is 9) - she used "Gifts Galore" from Stamp It, and a sentiment from a Stampin' Up set.  (sorry for the poorly lit and out of focus photos of the girls' cards - I photographed them at my sisters place using my phone, and the lighting was not ideal for photography.)
And, finally, this card by Lauren, who is 12. She used a sentiment from Hero Arts, and kept her card CAS by adding some ribbon, buttons and a bell in Christmassy colours.

Thanks for visiting - have a happy World Cardmaking Day!  :D

A new challenge at A Blog Named Hero

Hello, crafty friends! The topic for this fortnight's challenge at A Blog Named Hero is Stretch your Stamps.  In other words, use the same stamp for a different purpose.
We're very lucky to be working with Lawn Fawn stamps this month, so I pulled out one of my favourite Lawn Fawn Christmas stamp sets, "Peace, Love, Joy", and made a wedding card! The sentiment comes from Hero Arts "Best wishes".

Many thanks to Lawn Fawn!!
